Mood Follows Action

These are very challenging times and it's very easy for us to feel overwhelmed and perhaps, unmotivated. It's natural during times of stress and anxiety to feel like we need to be hyper-vigilant so we're "ready for anything". Perhaps we have a hard time turning off the news, or we keep scrolling through our social media feeds, fearful of missing something important.

I've done this myself, so believe me, I'm pointing all 10 fingers at myself right now. Stress can trigger the "flight or fight" response, which can make us feel uninspired to do the things we know would be good for us, like go for a walk outside, go to the gym or take a yoga class. We might wait until we feel inspired.

For this reason, that I would love to share this wonderful phrase, "mood follows action".

What I have found, is when I don't feel motivated, but I make the decision to practice anyway, I always feel better physically, emotionally and I even feel more inspired.

Just something to consider. Here's a quick 3-minute video of a discussion with Tim Ferris and Rich Roll, in case you're interested.

Please remember to reach out to a friend or loved-one if you feel like you need a little extra support right now. There is even a wonderful YouTube channel by a licensed therapist that I might recommend. Here's a link:
